SEASON HIGHLIGHTS!
Concord’s 29th Annual Music & Market Series

The 29th Annual Music & Market Series returns to Todos Santos Plaza featuring a “Cream of the Crop” schedule of Bay Area bands, and one of the best Farmer’s Markets anywhere.

The Music & Market Series is an eclectic, award winning series that attracts thousands of people of all ages. For twenty-nine years, the series has been building community and commerce in downtown Concord. Set in beautiful downtown Todos Santos Plaza, thousands attend weekly for great music, good company, and delicious food.

The series begins with a celebratory memorial to our former stage manager, Steve Sage. For decades Steve taught rock ‘n roll at DVC and was a much-loved activist/musician in the Diablo Valley. This show features many of the bands he mentored through the years.

Other special themes include a celebration of the “Summer of Love’s” 50-year anniversary as seen through the eyes of 1967’s legendary music venue, the “Concord Coliseum”.

The Coliseum was behind Park ‘n Shop where the Petco is now. It hosted many of the top bands of the day. On June 15th, two great bands will bring those memories back with tributes to two of the legendary headliners who played at the Concord Coliseum: Purple Haze with their tribute to Jimi Hendrix and the RaveUps with their tribute to the Yardbirds.

The Tuesday Blues Series returns with a world class blues guitar player, an acclaimed Blues harmonicist and a phenomenal Blues Piano man. Calendar your Tuesdays in July for Chicago- style blues harpist Mark Hummel (7/11), jump-blues piano man Mitch Woods (7/18) and slide blues master Roy Rogers (7/25).

People love to dance in the park; and whether it’s the Zydeco Flames (5/18) churning out the Cajun and Zydeco music of the Gulf Coast, or the spicy salsa of Orquesta Borinquen (8/17), your feet will not be still. You’ll see a lively line-dancing scene at the California Cowboys (7/20) show, and people groovin’ to Reggae music with Natives Elements (6/8).

It’s also the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles Sargent Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and the Sun Kings (8/24) will perform their flawlessly faithful rendition of the Beatles classic album.

Come see why Concord was picked as one of the ten best small cities for live music in the USA by online magazine Livability.com based in Nashville. Concord has much to be proud of with such a vibrant, trend-setting downtown summer music scene nearly three decades in the making.
